MM Exposed - Behind the scenes with Jamika Ajalon
The breeding ground for magic
Everything is in motion. Movement gives our lives a certain unpredictability, but it also creates freedom. According to interdisciplinary artist Jamika Ajalon, this is the ideal breeding ground for magic. Music Meeting followed the American Jamika Ajalon on her ongoing journey. Jamika gives an insight into the ideas and concepts behind her artworks. Take for example her view on surveillance culture and how it affects how we remember history or the emergence of multiple realities, influenced by forms of new media. What is really the truth?
“Don’t Feed the Gatekeepers”
Together with her eclectic band Jamika & the Argonauts, Ajalon gets to the bottom of these questions and consciously tries to push boundaries in multiple areas. Because to be able to keep moving forward, we have to keep asking questions and dare to be critical. Musically the band merges various genres that are then united by the DIY-aesthetic of punk during their live performances.
