Jamika Ajalon

Creative jack of all traits 

The American interdisciplinary artist Jamika Ajalon can rightly be seen as a creative erudite. She is a poet, author, filmmaker and on top of that a versatile musician. At the core of her creativity lies her writership. Her fiction, non-fiction and poetry appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines. With a bachelor's degree in film and video and a master's in media, communication and culture, the eclectic Ajalon regulary exchanges her pen and paper to work with different forms of media. The subjects she addresses are multifarious too. Though they all at the same time aim to push existing boundaries. Ajalon does not scare away from asking critical questions about the status quo. She incorporates the answers to these questions into the colorful patchwork that is her oeuvre. 

Collaborations 

In addition to various solo projects, Ajalon took on various musical collaborations throughout the years. She for example toured with French dub band Zenzile and recorded music with Nigerian drummer Tony Allen, French violist Vincent Ségal and rapper Malik Ameer Crumpler. In the tradition of DIY (Do It Yourself) Ajalon founded the band Jamika & The Argonauts, with whom she released the album 'Rebooted' in 2021. Within the spirit of punk the band plays a fusion of rock, blues, hip hop and electronics. The complete emergence of Jamika into the music makes the live performances of the band all too unique.
