Meika

 Pop and jazz come together in Meika's music, but not in a polished way. The compositions of singer Emmie te Pas are far too ingenious for that. The beautiful melody lines that she writes are linked to very interesting and especially subtle variations in the rhythms. A lot is happening in the background, and yet the catchy power of the compositions and singing remains unaffected.

The music is light, but not superficial, it is also fantastically performed by great young musicians, including bassist Teun Creemers, who grooves wonderfully - just like we hear with his band Naamu.

Last year Meika was the winner of the Open Call organized by Music Meeting. The band's debut album has now also been released. Fresh and energetic, and determined to show what they have to offer at this festival edition, and that is a lot!
