Liran Donin’s 1000 Boats

Impressive and energizing adventurous jazz and traditional music.
The band of Liran Donin, the Israeli bass player long active in the British musical scene, is working hard. With a rhythm section that steps up the beat rather than slowing down and two saxophonists that surpass frenzied energy levels, 1000 Boats lifts listeners in the first few seconds, dropping them only when the band stops.
In his first project credited to his own name Donin combines many enduring interests and loves, including the passion for adventurous jazz he expressed with bands like Led Bib and Polar Bear. Exploring resonance from all corners of the world, Donin has worked with the Ethiopian maestro Mulatu Astatke and in many songs refers to Israeli and British traditional music.
All that he combines, preferably in the highest gear, but without losing the subtlety and applies the brakes as needed. Italian pianist Maria Chiara Argirò provides both saxophonists with impeccable input in her wonderful repetitive melodies.
