Music Meeting Exposed: Jamie Peet
Dynamic drum parts resound over the almost empty beach of Egmond aan Zee. It is a remarkable meeting of the inner peace of nature, symbolized by the vast stretches of sand and the driving sounds of the percussion. Powerful as the waves of the North Sea. Strolling through the dunes, Dutch drummer Jamie Peet finds peace here in his turbulent life as a musician. Music Meeting visited Peet on the beach and in the musical venue Music Center Blue in Alkmaar.
An expedition into timbres and acoustics
Jamie talks about how his father, bass player Michael Peet, inspired him to become a professional musician. When hearing Elvin Jones drum on John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme', Peet was completely overwhelmed by the energy of his drumming. To make his inspirations his own, Peet prefers to immerse himself in an album and then translate this into his hands. This process manifests itself in a journey of discovery towards the ultimate timbres and acoustics.
