Artist in residence: Maryana Golovchenko
Ukrainian singer Maryana Golovchenko is one of the artists in residence at Music Meeting 2024 this year. She performs in several line-ups, for example with Trio SonCe - where her beautiful, pure voice is framed by cello, various Turkish wind instruments and modular synthesizer. She also plays live with the Kravchenko Clees duo, who won the Polish Jazz Juniors prize with their unique combination of vocals and vibraphone. Finally, she plays a live soundtrack to the fantastic film Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors by director Sergej Parajanov, together with violinist Anna Antipova and pianist Katharine Ziabliuk.
Maryana Golovchenko is from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Maryana is a singer, musician, festival maker, teacher and researcher in the field of culture. She specializes in international crossover musical and cultural projects (both Eastern and Western Europe). Maryana's collaborations include work with musicians, choirs, filmmakers, visual artists, sound designers, dancers and choreographers. Her current focus is on merging traditional music from Eastern Europe and Ukraine, specifically with the different types of contemporary music styles (from classical to jazz and electronica) and with musical traditions from other countries and continents.
