Nubiyan Twist
LONDON | Emancipation never sounded so good
Emancipation never sounded so good.
Nubiyan Twist perfectly captures the metropolitan character of London. This British collective has a loud and clear message: everyone is equal, genres should be fluid and dancing is not a crime!
The extremely diverse sound of Nubiyan Twist comes from ten highly driven musicians led by guitarist and producer Tom Excell. His idiosyncratic approach to music, combined with a Brazilian-English rhythm section, a four-piece brass section, a gifted keyboard player and various vocalists, yields a rich mix of jazz, dub, hip-hop, ethiogrooves, afrobeat, latin, soul, reggae and dance. This energetic, young collective always surprises with improvisations on stage.
Last February Nubiyan Twist released their powerful, emancipated second album Jungle Run on Strut Records. The album received good reviews and Nubiyan Twist is keen to make this album an unforgettable live experience.
Followed by the strong album Freedom Fables, released in 2021
