Fringe Orchestra ft. Bex Burch
NETHERLANDS, LONDEN | A spectacular cooperation
Fringe Orchestra is an annual collaboration between the Fluid Orchestra and the Maastricht Conservatory.
Made up of students from the conservatory, the line-up combines three conventional formations: a symphony orchestra, big band and electric band. Fringe Orchestra explores the periphery of afro, big band jazz, punk and electro. Composer Jesse Passenier (arranger with the Metropole Orkest, winner of the Rogier van Otterloo Award 2017) and Bex Burch (Vula Viel) write music for the orchestra together with principles from The Science of Groove.
This with Burch herself on her characteristic gyil (Ghanaian xylophone) and guest stars for scratch DJ Vindictiv (De La Soul, Wayne Shorter). On stage is where the Fringe Orchestra feels at home, inspired by live acts of today, such as Ezra Collective, STUFF. and Snarky Puppy. Fringe Orchestra dares, grinds, makes you dance, overwhelms and inspires. The frontier is where it happens.
