Dimitar Bodurov Trio featuring Trygve Seim & Avigeya Voices
BULGARY, NORWAY, NETHERLANDS | World premiere of a wonderfully exciting, experimental project
A beautifully exciting, experimental project’s world premiere.
Sometimes music starts with a vision. When asked if there was anyone he’d like to play with with sometime, Bulgarian pianist Dimitar Bodurov immediately decided on Trygve Seim, a Norwegian saxophone player who can play the most beautiful, deeply stirring melodies with apparent ease. But there should be singing, as well, Bodurov thought. It would take two – no, three – voices to reproduce those remarkable and oh so amazing Bulgarian harmonies. So Avigeya Voices’s three singers came on board.
The music isn’t there yet, Music Meeting will be their debut, yet you can almost hear it now. Bodurov’s style, equal parts melody and percussion, doing complete justice to the complicated and exhilarating rhythms of Bulgarian folk and jazz. His bandmates, bass player Cord Heineking and drummer Jens Düppe, following the pianist to the farthest musical corners. Avigeya Voices, sounding rich and crisp like the sun’s rays on a summer day. And then there’s Seim’s instantly recognizable, unforgettable sound, soft and piercing like a whispered truth.
