Musicians who really understand each other never end up on different wavelengths. Even if they’ve no idea at the outset where they’re actually heading. Keyboardist Niels Broos and drummer Jamie Peet are two such musicians. No matter what bizarre musical path one of them takes, the other is sure to follow. That gives their music its amazing flexibility. In terms of melody, everything seems possible. The same is true of rhythms, which Broos and Peet can effortlessly speed up or slow down in a flash. This Dutch duo possesses the very same flexibility when it comes to different genres. Boundaries are easily crossed. Jazz becomes hip-hop, which turns into rock, then trance, back to rock, a little fusion, finally some trip-hop, or all in the opposite direction. What keeps this adventure on track the whole time is the groove. Broos and Peet have it in their heart, their head, their fingers, their very fibres. That ensures that the listener never loses touch with this remarkable pair for a second. It’s precisely that groove, that wonderfully gripping groove, that always points the way, encouraging the listener to turn down the same path. This music really comes to life on stage, where you see and hear two men completely absorbed in each other’s world.
