Sounds of Change featuring HAN Here And Now + Nawras Altaky, Maryana Golovchenko and Sander van Goor.
Sounds of Change is an organisation that harnesses the power of music in conflict zones, training local teachers, psychologists and social workers there to use music in their work with children and young people. In recent years, Sounds of Change's team has been active in countries such as Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Ukraine, Turkey, Kurdistan, Syria, Iraq and Greece.
HAN Here and Now is the band of Han van 't Land, a passionate musician and songwriter based in Amsterdam. He writes songs about the power of music and his view of the world, and he brings them - together with his band members Hashem Kabreet (percussion) and Lucas Dols (bass) - to the stage in an interactive and joyful way.
HAN Here and Now is closely involved in the activities of Sounds of Change. Especially for Music Meeting Festival, and as part of the festival motto 'The light is always changing', a performance was developed together with three guest musicians: Ukrainian singer Maryana Golovchenko, Syrian ud player and singer Nawras Altaky and guitarist and music therapist Sander van Goor.
In addition to a musical performance, this colourful, inspired and experiential group will talk about Sounds of Change. About the power of music and the important work of Sounds of Change in conflict and war zones like Syria and Ukraine, illustrated with music from these countries. This narrative concert will take place twice: at 18:00 and at 22:00h.
ALSO: at 16:00, the three musicians of HAN Here and Now will open the children's programme on the Mini Meeting stage with an energetic, colourful and inviting performance! All children, from small to big, young to old, are welcome to join in and dance.
