Artistic director Martyna van Nieuwland to leave Music Meeting
Martyna van Nieuwland will leave Music Meeting as artistic director on October 1, 2024. With her broad knowledge of innovative global music to ancient music traditions, she left her mark on the past festival editions where a major role was reserved for interdisciplinary programming. Music Meeting has also taken steps in the field of sustainability, social inclusion and cultural heritage, which Martyna and the team have worked on together. Both festival editions were highly appreciated by musicians, the public, the press and the professional world.
Nevertheless, the board of Music Meeting and Martyna have concluded that their ambitions differ. Martyna will remain involved remotely in the programming of the next edition, from June 7 to 9 in 2025, which will still largely bear her signature.
The board and team of Music Meeting thank Martyna van Nieuwland for her efforts in recent years and her valuable musical ideas for future festivals. We wish her the best of luck with her next professional steps!
