A letter from our Artistic Director: Martyna van Nieuwland

Dear friend of Music Meeting,

'Tis the time of sharing and planning. The season of relaxing and dreaming.

While beautiful music plays in the background... even better music awaits you at the end of May 2023. From Hungarian dark folk guitar to African beats, from French avant-garde to Sami Joik from the northernmost part of the world.

We share the originality of music from all over the world. Special collaborations, Dutch premieres, unique music meetings on stage, a Mini Meeting stage for children, good food and company. We promise a versatile programme, from spoken word to a sound system with special curated events. And as icing on the cake: the All Ears Area to meet us behind the scenes as well. We encourage you to get to know the artists and listen to their stories. The Music Meeting team is working hard to bring you the best. The mission of organising this festival is to build connections and serve our community.

The light is always changing is therefore our motto for the coming year. We are experiencing radical changes worldwide, responding to them and not giving up. The light can change in all possible ways - this is how we experience it in good times and bad. But we do believe in the beautiful of tomorrow (Pharoah Sanders). Let the Whitsun weekend in Nijmegen be the weekend where we can celebrate life, sound and togetherness. Despite, or precisely because of everything.
