Winner open call
In September, Music Meeting issued an open call for Gelderland talent, with the main prize being a place on our stage during Music Meeting 2024. An independent jury selected a winner from no fewer than 65 applicants: the band Meika. The jury consisted of Laia Canals, director of Tempi, and Jermaine Kanbier, junior programmer at Bimhuis Amsterdam.
Meika is a band around singer and composer Emmie te Pas, who studied at the conservatory in Arnhem. She then spent two years in New York, where she immersed herself in the jazz scene. She finds her inspiration in jazz and soul, such as the music of Gretchen Paralto, Avishai Cohen, Kneebody, Jill Scott and Erykah Badu.
