Parasymbiosis
- Monday 20 May 15:00 - 16:30 (Karolingenzaal)
Pulsating soundscape of enormous dimensions
According to Aboriginal Indigenous astronomy, the sky above our heads is reflected in the earth. Parasymbiosis features the sounds of the Australian desert through the articulation of a 3D model of a 350 million year old wave rock, dating from the time when Central Australia was submerged under an inland ocean.
A major role in this is played by the Electric Crystal, a handmade instrument invented by Dylan Crismani. This fragile microtonal instrument is made of glass rods and aluminum and generates vibrations and frequencies that feedback on themselves. This results in a pulsating soundscape of enormous dimensions, which takes the listener far beyond the limits of conventional instruments.
