Gilad Atzmon
Passionalte and outspoken musician with an enviable saxophone sound.
A figure who’s forever sparking controversy. Saxophone player Gilad Atzmon certainly holds some outspoken views, and he sees it as his task to express them as sharply as possible in words and music.
The Israeli-born musician once played saxophone in the illustrious Blockheads fronted by the idyosyncratic punk singer Ian Dury. Over the years Atzmon has also created one amazing record after another with his own band, The Orient House Ensemble. In it he unites musical extremes: romantic jazz, Arabic music, rock, cabaret, free jazz and much more. Yet no matter how diverse, Atzmon’s enviable sound on alto and soprano sax keeps it all together.
