Coladera
BRASIL, PORTUGAL | Coladera's breathtaking songs unite Europe, Africa and South America
Coladera’s breathtaking songs unite Europe, Africa and South America.
Coladera started when Portuguese guitarist João Pires and Brazilian guitarist, singer Vitor Santana met in Lisboa. Vitor’s Brazilian songwriting and warm vocals matched perfectly with the Portuguese playing style of João. Together they decided to make lusophone music, blending musical styles from several Portuguese-speaking countries. This resulted in Coladera: a mixture of fado, samba, candomblé, bossa nova, Angolan semba, and also Cape Verdean styles such as coladeira and morna.
Last March, Coladera released its second album La Dôtu Lado, including collaborations with pandeiro master Marcos Suzano and percussionist Miroca Paris, who played for many years for the Queen of Morna, Cesária Évora. Live, Coladera performs in an intimate and direct way, taking you along into their multi-continental world. At Music Meeting percussionist Iúri Oliveira and bassist Francesco Valente will provide Coladera’s rhythmic foundation.
