Ali Doğan Gönültaş

Ali Doğan Gönültaş, born in Anatolia (Turkey), is a versatile talent. He studied archeology and media at Kocaeli University, near Istanbul. But Gönültaş also turned out to have a passion for music. He was co-founder of the post-rock/experimental group Ze Tijê in which many of the compositions and arrangements came from him. He also played various (traditional) instruments and sang.

And those vocals contain a lot of expressive power and emotion. The dreamy melodies in his compositions are also striking. All these characteristics and his special background shine through on the fantastic solo debut Kiğı. In his beautiful songs he stands up for the silent minorities in Turkey, such as the Kurds and Armenians. In addition to his solo work, Gönültaş also composes music for films and participates in musical TV programs.
