La Chiva Gantiva
With unbridled energy and craziness, these Belgian Colombians provide a musical feast
Some Colombians came to live in Belgium. At a certain point, a plan was born. That plan was to keep musical traditions from Colombia alive. And that plan, it can't be said otherwise, got completely out of hand. Cumbia and other genres got mixed with all sorts of things. The funk of James Brown and Red Hot Chili Peppers, for example, but also hip hop and rock and dance and... and much more.
Yet exactly what the group had planned happened, the music from their native country remained alive, very much alive even. And that is, to say the least, quite infectious. Because jumping up and down and hugging your neighbor on the festival field is something you will automatically do with this extremely energetic party music.
