Pianist, composer, musicologist: this artist’s work takes many forms.
From the club to the conservatoire
She completed three different studies – classical piano, composition, and ethnomusicology – in as many countries. London knows the Cuban-Argentinian Eliane Correa as a bandleader, most notably for her six-piece band, Wara. Together they rock clubs through festive latin, packed with politically engaging lyrics.
At the same time she’s the session pianist for 'The World of Hans Zimmer,' an official production with music by the famous film music composer. True to her reputation, Correa will appeared in different formations at Music Meeting. As one of our Artists in Focus she played with several groups. She performed with the string ensemble Fuse, she’ll join the uptempo salsa band Mercadonegro for a few tunes, and of course she has also played with her very own group Wara.
Eliane performed at Music Meeting Festival in 2019. In 2022 she also played a role at the festival as a presenter. Get to know her by checking out her Music Meeting Talks interview, her concert with Fuse at Music Meeting Festival 2019, by reading the article 'London vs. Havana' with Correa and by listening to her newest single with Wara 'Yo No Me Voy' on Spotify.
