The Meeting Music series arose out of a passion shared by Music Meeting and Jan Douwe Kroeske for discovering new music in all its diversity. Meeting Music takes viewers on a journey into the world of a remarkable and promising young musician, exploring his or her music culture. 

Episode 2 - Vernon Chatlein

The Curaçao percussionist and composer Vernon Chatlein, living in Almere, is committed to the culture and music of the Curaçao and Caribbean heritage. In this episode of Meeting Music, Jan Douwe Kroeske talks to him, his parents and his great source of inspiration, the pianist Randal Corsen. Charissa Granger also makes an appearance: the musicologist with whom Vernon has been working for over two years for his new work 'Voices from Letters'. With this project he explores the cultural and musical heritage of Curaçao and brings it to the attention of the public on the island itself, in the Netherlands and beyond.
