A selection from the program of Music Meeting Festival 2022:
Saturday June 4
The Cuban percussion/singing phenomenon Adonis y Osain del Monte is one of the groups of artists who brought its pure Cuban vibes to Park Brakkenstein. One of the highlights of the festival program.
Furthermore, on Saturday Badume's Band & Selamnesh Zéméné and El Comité could be seen on Nikko and Son Bent Braam, The Hidden Truth and Ivo Papasov & His Wedding Band coudl be admired on Ziro. The versatile Brenda Navarrete was a 'guest artist' on Saturday, but also on Sunday and Monday on several stages.
Sunday June 5
Damir Imamović has the ambition to renew the sevdah - the Bosnian song of life - so cherished in Bosnia, without renouncing its ancient roots. The singer from Sarajevo brought the beautiful project 'Singer of Tales' to Nijmegen.
Ping Pong Piano, composed of four Cuban master pianists Ivan 'Melón' Lewis, Ramón Valle Marialy Pacheco and Rolando Luna, blesses the stage on Sunday June 5. A great collaboration that started at Music Meeting Festival, but doesn't end there...
As usual, in addition to Cuban artists, experienced musicians from all over the world took the stage at Music Meeting Festival. The Spanish singer and trombonist Rita Payés is a real sensation. Not only on stage, but also on Youtube. For the first time in the Netherlands and that of course at Music Meeting Festival.
On Sunday, Chouk Bwa & The Ångströmers, Djely Tapa and Džambo Aguševi Orchestra performed at Nikko. As icing on the cake, there was a super jam led by Alain Pérez. A festivalday you didn't want to miss!
Monday June 6
Antibalas, Spanish for 'bulletproof', is the Afrobeat band from Brooklyn that, in addition to classical Afrobeat, also borrows elements from jazz, funk, dub, improvised music and traditional drumming from Cuba and West Africa. Sitting still was not an option during their show.
The Alain Pérez y la orquesta: as the name suggests, this collective of new generation Cuban artists was led by bassist/singer and Latin Grammy winner Alain Pérez. On a Dutch stage for the first time in full line-up ar Music Meeting Festival!
Monday was a special festival day, because on this day Music Meeting talent Raquel Kurpershoek performed her project at Mystic, where Tamala could also be seen. Furthermore, you could enjoy the beautiful collaborations Tolyqyn & K.O. Brass and Tony Roe vs. Vernon Chatlein on Ziro.
