Polish folk tradition with a refreshing twist
When the all-female trio SUTARI debuted at the Polish New Tradition Folk Festival in 2012, it immediately won the second jury prize and the audience prize. Their albums were rewarded with various nominations and prizes. The power of three special voices and a rich musical imagination, that is SUTARI.
Basia Songin, Dobromita Życzyńska and Kasia Kapela partly rely on traditional Polish folk singers. But at the same time they give that tradition a refreshing twist in their songs. The trio experiments with various singing techniques, harmonies, traditional Polish rhythms and the experimental use of everyday objects as musical instruments.
In addition, SUTARI arranges traditional Polish songs, but also writes its own songs that are based on modern music. SUTARI was one of the rare Polish and European groups to record a live session at the popular American indie radio station KEXP Seattle. The new album #LullabiesForTheWorld will be released in 2024.
