Take a dash of surrealism. Add a tablespoon of modern folk, a cup of talharpa, and a handful of effects pedals and loopers. The result: Puuluup! This dynamic Estonian duo, consisting of Marko Veisson and Ramo Teder, formed in 2014. The duo is single-handedly breathing new life into the ancient four-stringed lyre known as the talharpa. This traditional instrument has been hugely popular since the Middle Ages, particularly in Scandinavia, but is now played primarily in Estonia. With Puuluup, you experience the talharpa in a completely new way: amplified and often played using experimental techniques. Original, traditional, punk, and romantic neo-zombie post-folk all rolled into one. Puuluup has performed from Belgium to Canada and from China to Macedonia, but never before in the Netherlands. Fun fact: Together with the band 5MIINUST, Puuluup participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024, reaching the grand final. And now Puuluup is at Music Meeting!
