Some voices fill a space completely and instantly, yet somehow remain personal, subdued, and intimate, even almost small. Indian singer Parvathy Baul has such a voice. The fact that her performance during Music Meeting will take place in a church already makes it an event to look forward to eagerly. Singing is central to her music. The instrumental accompaniment is sparse. The rhythms and melodies played are mainly supportive and suggestive. The listener can let their imagination run free and connect with the deep spirituality that Baul conveys so vividly. In addition to being a singer, the Indian artist is also a storyteller. You can hear that, even if you don't speak her language. The sounds are soulful, transporting an ancient history to the present. With so much fire that it leaves you speechless.
