During Music Meeting, Dutch tabla player Heiko Dijker takes the stage several times alongside young Indian musicians—highly talented musicians, above all. Take the virtuoso J.A. Jayant, for example, who produces a beautiful sound on the bansuri flute. Emotional yet serene, a certain kind of wisdom emanates from what he plays. As if the bansuri grounds him and grants him access to ancient knowledge. Balakrishna SG is a masterful player of the mridangam (a double-sided drum) and, like his fellow musicians, is completely at home in classical Indian music. Music in which every note speaks of devotion and concentration. Music that reaches you in complete tranquility, gently stirring deep feelings and thoughts within you. Thanks to the trance-inducing rhythms of the tabla, played with intensity by Dijker, and Balakrishna’s mridangam. And thanks to the utterly enchanting melodies from Jayant’s bansuri.
