She sings with remarkable clarity. On the four albums Diyet has released so far, the Canadian First Nations singer leaves no doubt about her message. She believes in collective healing, achieved by embracing both the future and our deepest roots, as well as ancient traditions.
Together with the two Love Soldiers, Diyet performs alternative country, folk, roots, and traditional music featuring catchy melodies and stories deeply rooted in her indigenous worldview and life in the north. Musically, they sound beautifully direct, with little frills but a keen ear for detail. Her beautiful, pure voice is perfectly complemented by (slide) guitar, mandolin, and drums. With a lively, uplifting rhythm that emphasizes both the warmth and the fighting spirit of her lyrics and vocals. Whether she sings in English or in Southern Tutchone, her native language, she comes very close, Diyet, as if she’s singing just for you, addressing only you with pride and hope.
