A classically composed string quintet that still grooves very violently? Yes indeed, the five Polish musicians of Vołosi play with such intensity that standing still is definitely not an option. Full of fire and devotion, the quintet mixes Polish folk music with all sorts of other genres, rough rock, for example, but also punk or jazz, film music or ambient.
That that music is performed on two violins, cello, viola and double bass gives Vołosi's music a surprising group sound in addition to an unmissable emotionality. You can hear from the spontaneity in the playing that many of the songs were born out of improvisation sessions. The sparkle of the unexpected coupled with great playing pleasure and equally great craftsmanship, that is Vołosi. And even when the feet are tired-dancing, there is still plenty to enjoy.
