At Music Meeting 2025, the Sori Quartet will enter into a special collaboration with artist in residence Sun-Mi Hong. This groundbreaking quartet, formed by four Korean musicians from Amsterdam, Berlin, London and Stuttgart, brings together traditional Korean music with modern jazz. The name "소리" (Sori) means "sound" or "tone" in Korean, and refers to a broad spectrum of acoustic expressions - a core concept in traditional Korean music. That rich world of sound comes alive in their genre-crossing playing, which focuses on improvisation, melody and cultural roots. In dialogue with Sun-Mi Hong's expressive and adventurous approach, a new musical narrative emerges, full of tension, subtlety and connection.
"It is exciting because I am the youngest and live in Europe for a shorter time than the others. They have a lot of experience and I'm learning a lot from that." - Sun-Mi Hong
