He has played with such greats as Joe Zawinul and Pat Metheny and has been around so long that it is surprising that he is only fifty-seven. Richard Bona, born in Cameroon but a citizen of the world for years, is blessed with a captivating voice that, with its slight hoarseness and that soft crackle, opens wide the gates to emotion for the listener. As a bassist, on the other hand, he is a paragon of enthusiasm, the joy of playing and, of course, not least of impressive technique. Bona draws inspiration wherever he can, from jazz, rock, pop, from Africa, Latin America, everywhere. With a guest appearance by Ntjam Rosie, the Dutch singer who, like Bona, has Cameroonian roots, his concert at Music Meeting will be extra special.
