At Germany's leading jazzahead! 2024, the showcase of the twelve-member Marmoucha Orchestra had not even been underway for 5 minutes when the front rows were already dancing to a blazing fusion of North African sounds, Middle Eastern influences and elements of jazz, pop and gnawa. The artistic core of this motley crew consists of young inspired musicians from the Netherlands, Southwest Asia, the Maghreb and the Mediterranean. Each has their own specialization, technique and repertoire. Historical richness and modern vibrations flow together in a fascinating mix of traditional folk music from these regions and innovative compositions. The eclectic Marmoucha Orchestra makes for a party that will turn many a festival upside down and will not escape Music Meeting either.
