Music Meeting Festival and poppodium Doornroosje together present a summer show by world star Manu Chao. On Friday, June 6, the eve of Music Meeting Festival, Park Brakkenstein will be the setting for a special summer evening concert. The Spanish-French Manu Chao will then play his 'Ultra Acoustic' show with two of his companions: the Argentine Matu Mati and the Galician jack-of-all-trades Rumbao.
Just last year, Manu Chao played a rare, three-part concert series in the Netherlands. Doornroosje hosted one of those three shows in a rigidly sold-out Hunnerpark. This outdoor venue transformed the concert into a summer festival experience.
Music Meeting Festival and Doornroosje are proud to announce the return of Manu Chao to Nijmegen. With new music in his pocket, he will play his 'Ultra Acoustic' show on the Music Meeting Festival grounds, one day before the weekend festival kicks off.
New album: 'Viva Tu
Manu Chao made his name with his band Mano Negra, with whom he played at Doornroosje as recently as 1990. In 1998 he started his solo career after his band ceased to exist. Hits like 'Me gustas tú' and 'Bongo Bong' went worldwide and his solo album 'Clandestino' (1998) became a global classic.
Manu Chao's new album "Viva Tu" was released in late 2024. Visitors to his show last year must have heard a taste of it. This year he will undoubtedly come out with more material from his new album, accompanied, of course, by the classics.
The world star is a great inspiration for musicians and fans because of his hot-blooded musical style, his lyrics, own sound, as well as his activist attitude.
Manu Chao's concert will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Park Brakkenstein in Nijmegen. Tickets are available via doornroosje.nl.
Please note that this concert is not part of the regular Music Meeting programming and is not included with passe-partouts. Tickets are available separately at doornroosje.nl; discounts for MM tickets do not apply.
