On Tuesday, April 16, Music Meeting will screen a special film at LUX: Rewards For The Tribe, with a soundtrack composed by Aviva Endean - this year's artist in residence at Music Meeting 2024.
This playful documentary explores the meeting of mind and body of two major dance companies: the genre-defying contemporary dance company Chunky Move and the famed Adelaide-based company Restless Dance Theatre, whose company consists of dancers with disabilities.
The film shifts from intimate reflections of the artists to disturbing and dreamlike dance sequences and intellectual provocations. Intimate, bold, thoughtful and expansive, Rewards For The Tribe leads us to understand the rewards of rethinking perfection and harmony.
Aviva Endean gives a brief introduction to the film. Martyna van Nieuwland, artistic director of Music Meeting, will be interviewed beforehand.
