International Music Meeting Festival program completed 2>

In the upcoming weekend, over 200 artists from all over the world will come to International Music Meeting Festival in Nijmegen. Each day features over 15 concerts, plus interviews, intimate mini concerts, films, and workshops with children. And an additional 150 talents will perform on the Gelderland Talent Stage: Forssa.

As always, the 35th edition of International Music Meeting Festival is packed with music you rarely hear, adventurous and uncompromising, ranging from jazz and improvised music, to traditional music and unique crossovers. London is this year’s City in Focus. Music Meeting delved deep into the current London music scene, and brought it’s newest up-and-coming talents to Nijmegen. Acts like Wara, Nubiyan Twist, Rum Buffalo, and the two Artists in Focus: Bex Burch and Eliane Correa.

Talent and deepening
You’ll hear the story behind the artist at the Mixed Media Lounge, where artists give interviews and intimate concerts. Meanwhile the spotlights are aimed at talent at the Gelderland Talent Stage: Forssa, with over 150 artists working on projects focused on developing musical talent.

Children’s program
Music Meeting also has a lot of activities for the kids. Every day there are music workshops with festival artists, as well as activities and games by the creative agency Burgemeester van Buiten. Kids under 17 with adult supervision can enter the festival free of charge.

London is ‘City in Focus’ during Music Meeting

British music scene hits Nijmegen

NIJMEGEN – London is happening: the English capital is bursting with musical talent. That’s why London is this year’s City in Focus during the International Music Meeting Festival. The festival took a deep dive into the current British music scene, and on June 8, 9, and 10, it’s bringing the most notable talent to Nijmegen: Wara, Eliane Correa, Liran Donin’s 1000 Boats, Vula Viel, Bex Burch, Ill Considered, Rum Buffalo, and Nubiyan Twist. Not the usual suspects, but the uncharted sounds of London.

As we speak, London is going through one of its most creative moments in British music history. The city is bursting with artists and musical adventurers, who color outside the lines and pay genres and styles no mind. Musicians like Shabaka Hutchings (Music Meeting 2017) and Nubya Garcia mix jazz, hip hop, and afrobeat, and their typical ‘London sound’ speaks to a new audience. They’re touring across the world now, but in London things have kept developing swiftly, from Wara’s explosive latin jazz, to Rum Buffalo’s raw, vaudeville swing blues. On June 8, 9, and 10, Music Meeting is offering music lovers an opportunity to discover a new selection of London artists you’ll be hearing more of in the coming years.

“London will listen”: interviews with London artists
Music Meeting programmer Kay Krijnen visited a couple of artists to find out what the city has to offer young talent. Watch the interviews with Eliane Correa, Bex Burch, Liran Donin, and Rum Buffalo at or on YouTube:
