Janne Schra on Arabic tour with Dyar

Ever wanted to hear ZZ & De Maskers’s Dutch pop classic Ik heb genoeg van jou with an Arabic touch? Then you don’t want to miss this special collaboration between Dutch singer Janne Schra and the Amsterdam/Syrian group DYAR at International Music Meeting. Janne Schra was the singer and songwriter of the internationally successful jazz pop band Room Eleven, good for gold and platinum records, and even a Top 2000 listing thanks to the hit Hey hey hey. Since 2012, Schra has also enjoyed a solo career and her English-language solo albums have reached the Top 10.

Schra has also been very successful singing in Dutch, and even in Arabic, as demonstrated by her collaboration with DYAR. This band is made up of Syrian and Dutch musicians, including former Room Eleven double bass player Lucas Dols. DYAR’s instruments include the lute (ud) and various percussions from Arabic folk music, and also embraces jazz and hip hop influences. ‘DYAR’ means ‘house’: one in which people feel at home, where everyone is welcome and in which Arabic and Western sounds thrive together.

Janne Schra – vocals, guitar
Tony Roe – keys
Lucas Dols – bass
Nawras Altaki – ud, vocals
Modar Salama – percussion
